Spread the word about the International Day of Forests

Forests and trees sustain and protect us in invaluable ways. They provide the clean air that we breathe and the water that we drink. They host and safeguard the planet’s biodiversity and act as our natural defence against climate change. Life on earth is made possible and sustainable thanks to forests and trees.

The theme of the 2015 International Day of Forests (IDF) is Forests | Climate | Change, chosen purposely to highlight the ways in which forests and climate change are linked, and to rally global support for greater action and change.

Spread the word about the International Day of Forests - share the 2015 FAO IDF video spot

Join FAO and its partners in celebrating the International Day of Forests on 21 March, by sharing the FAO video spot with your colleagues, communities, partners and friends around the world, in order to remind them why and how forests are integral to sustainable development and action on climate change.

Make use of the FAO free online IDF material

FAO has developed posters and web banners using the International Day of Forests logo to make sure your 2015 celebration is a huge success. Please download, publish and share this material with your friends and colleagues.

Tree planting

Actively support the International Day of Forests celebrations by planting trees in your community and let us know what you've done by sending us your stories and photos of tree-planting and other initiatives to IDF@fao.org. Let us show the world how trees, forests and their surrounding environments make a difference to our communities. Plant a tree, plant the future!
